There is so much charm in this intimate wedding held in Denmark. The delicate florals, the pretty garden ceremony and the small group of close friends and family all create a romantic warm atmosphere. You can feel the happiness in the photos and the excitement for the bride and groom to start their life together.
Hannah + Alistar | May 18 2013 | Fredriksberg Have, Copenhagen, Denmark, Stasia Copenhagen
The Ceremony
We we got engaged, there was never any doubt that we’d get married in our adopted home Denmark where we moved for Alistair’s postdoctoral research. Sixty of our nearest and dearest turned up a year later to our wedding in Frederiksberg Have, Copenhagen. We combined both Australian and Danish traditions into the day. In typical Australian style, the day commenced with a short ceremony in the gardens outside Restaurant Mielcke & Hurtigkarl which was led by our dads, in which we confirmed our vows in front of all our guests. Our siblings contributed to the ceremony by each doing a reading and our mums presented us with the official marriage certificate from the town hall wedding.
The Reception
After the ceremony, we moved to the restaurant terrace for canapés and aperitifs followed by a 4 course dinner (with matched wines) at Mielcke & Hurtigkarl. Guests were seated on blended tables (in terms of nationality and their relation to the bride / groom), decorated with Danish spring wild flowers and Australian eucalyptus. Dinner included Danish seasonal dishes such as green asparagus, cod and guf, as well as lamb (somewhat of an Australian national dish).
Hannah’s Dress Search
I always knew I wanted a lace dress, but it wasn’t until I met the designer, Stasia, then it all came together…
How She Felt In Her Wedding Dress
Classic, elegant, graceful.
Why Hannah’s Selling Her Wedding Dress
I really love the dress and can’t stand the thought of it sitting in a closet for the next 50+ years. I want someone else to enjoy the dress on their special day, as much as I did. The quality of the silks and lace used, combined with the classic design makes me think that I can definitely find someone else who will fall in love with the dress too!
