Emi + Akil’s Toronto wedding is brimming with life, love and celebration. I’m mesmerized by Emi’s two completely different looks for the ceremony and reception. And the glamorous reception venue – and party that went into the wee hours of the morning, definitely made it a night to remember.

The Ceremony
It was a very intimate catholic ceremony. My dream of not only finding my life partner, but also of my uncle marrying us came true. My uncle is a priest and ever since I was very young, I’ve always wanted him to perform my wedding ceremony, as we have such a close bond together. He guided me through all aspects of my life from the adolescence to adulthood. We were both fortunate to have all of our close family and friends present at our ceremony, including our beloved grandparents. Our grandmothers cried throughout the entire thing. We felt blessed to be able to make a lifelong commitment in front of everyone who mattered the most! Finally, while walking down the aisle, I saw Akil and I knew this was it, this was everything I wanted in life…
The Reception
The reception was beautiful. It was in a banquet hall that had these phenomenal chandeliers! I wore a beautiful Lazaro gown and I felt like Cinderella, Snow White, Pocahontas and Jasmine (because of my long hair) rolled into one! We had a Tassa drum band, in which our bridal party walked into and we came down these gorgeous winding stairs for our entrance. Our centerpieces were white orchids in tall glass vases. It was more than what we could have asked for. Everyone we loved under one roof celebrating our union. We danced, ate and drank until 3 am!
Emi’s Dress Search
I tired on 60 dresses! I know this as a fact because I went to 8 stores and I averaged around 7-8 dresses per store. I chose my gown because as soon as I tried it on, I knew it was the one….I had the same feeling I had when I met my husband. I knew this was it, he was it, and similarly my Lazaro was it!!! It incorporated everything I wanted; elegance, grandeur, sparkle and the ruffles added that couture and best of all my mom and dad cried their eyes out when I showed them the dress.

Why Emi Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I decided to sell it because I really want someone else to have the same experience I had (of course –right?!). But also let other brides know you can have the same luxury by being resourceful (hence PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com). A savvy bride is a happy bride! Plus I feel really sad when I see my wedding dress in the closet…and I’m too tempted to just put on my gorgeous gown and wear it to work!!
