Elegant Wedding Inspired by Classical Music

There’s an incredible sense of beauty in classic works of art. Stylist Veronica of Type A Society started conceptualizing this elegant wedding shoot by taking inspiration from her favorite classical music, a Bach concerto that evokes feelings of being in love and the sweetness and innocence that comes along with it. Beautiful calligraphy, luscious florals, and soft fabrics create that elegance and a classic atmosphere.

“When Laura Gordon asked me to come on as the creative director and stylist for her 1:1 workshop, she gave me full creative freedom to put a team together and it’s always a dream for a stylist and planner to have the full trust of your client (Laura, in this case!).

I wanted to do something a little different, and I had seen a lot of ballerina inspired shoots, so I spent some time thinking about what is personal to me that I could draw inspiration from. I grew up playing classical piano, and just love the feelings evoked from various classical pieces. One of my favorite pieces is a Bach Concerto that evokes feelings of being in love and a sweetness and innocence to love.

That was my starting point. I began to collect images and inspiration that reminded me of the sounds and movement of that particular Bach Concerto. When I put the perfect team together, I started with our florist, Jenn Pineau of Nature Composed. She has such an amazing ability to put movement in her floral in a unique way that I thought would work perfectly for this theme. Karla from Written Word Calligraphy has a keen ability to translate inspiration into her paper products and the suite she came up with was exactly what I had envisioned.

I pulled a cello into the styling because the curves of a cello are so feminine and I think it is one of the most beautiful instruments, visually and audibly. The shot of our model playing the cello and the lines of her back with the Samuelle Couture dress just mimicked the perfection of movement in the Cello Concerto perfectly.

The portraits Laura captured showed a sweet innocence and love between our models. They were my favorite among the gallery. They had such beautiful chemistry and it made my job as a stylist easy, just simply directing them to move together to the music and fall into each-other. The neutrality of the space gave us room to focus on the chemistry and love, rather than being distracted by extra elements.

So happy with the final result- just goes to show that keeping things simple truly allows us to focus on the most beautiful part, the love between the couple themselves.”
