Soft, Light, and Elegant Inspired Shoot in the South of France, Home to Fine Perfumes and Luxury

From Irka, the stylist:

“Our styled shoot was set in beautiful Provence, a province in Southern France. This region is full of stunning landscapes and lush flora due to its Mediterranean climate. Olive trees and pomegranates are very common. This region is also known for its unique and precious perfume manufactories.

So for this editorial, we developed a concept that includes typical elements from Southern France, primarily the perfume manufacturing. While many ancient societies commonly used perfume, it was the French that made it a luxury item. Fragrances are difficult to capture in pictures, so I focused on the main ingredients – flowers and petals, like jasmine and orange blossoms, key ingredients to many perfumes. A fragrance is also very light and delicate and we included that element as well. While the wedding venue is romantic and quaint, it is also a luxurious castle.

Our color concept mirrors the venue’s soft palette and is closely tied to our inspiration. Shades of dusty rose, for example, complement both the landscape and the perfume motif. The motif is, however, most prominent in the floristry. The bridal bouquet and the centerpiece are made with jasmine, scented roses, and tuberose which are all flowers used in a perfumery. In combination with olive and pomegranate, the flower arrangements are truly representative of Provence itself and of perfume.

Within the table decoration, we used a velvet table cloth in light dusty rose and paired it with beautiful tableware from Vista Alegre. The subtle pattern of the plates can also be found in the glasses. Small details like these are often the most important ones. Golden accents like the filigree cutlery or the golden wood of the chairs really make the design more elegant and therefore suitable for the location.

An absolute highlight of this styled shoot is the wedding dress from Mira Zwillinger. The white tulle is very light-weight and the gorgeous 3-D floral applications capture our motif perfectly. The jewelry and the headpiece of the bride are also floral inspired. For the stationary, we had the location illustrated on the paper and a dusty rose print to fit into the color palette for this shoot.”
