Dana + Bennett’s New York wedding was an elegant black tie affair complete with vibrant peacock feathers throughout, bold blues and golden hues and a really beautiful venue to boot. I love that today’s featured couple held their nuptials in the library of The Yale Club, followed by a beautiful reception in the venue’s ballroom. Don’t miss all the really great ‘text-as-art’ stationary, table cards and decor tidbits all beautifully designed by the bride (so talented!) or her ornate fit and flare lace detailed Lazaro gown. Enjoy!

The Ceremony
Our ceremony was in the library at the Yale Club. It was a very intimate ceremony with a poem read by the bride’s nephew and two best friends. The poem was beautiful and they got a lot of compliments from the guests. The bride and groom added something not so traditional to their ceremony it was called the hands ceremony. To tie in the library theme to the wedding the bride handed out bookmarks in lieu of programs. The bride also surprised the groom with having her nephew walk down the aisle with a sign saying “last chance to run”. Everyone thought it was hysterical.
The Reception
The reception was in the grand ballroom at The Yale Club. It was beautiful with antique touches. The bride carried her peacock theme through out the event. The band played all night long and guests didn’t leave the dance floor.
Dana’s Dress Search
I love Lazaro! I had a certain dress in mind and I went to Kleinfelds in NYC to try it on. I liked it but actually when my consultant took me to the stock room I picked another Lazaro gown off the rack and I NEEDED to try it on. Once I put it on I knew it was the one. I LOVED my dress. It made me feel like a model, I looked sexy, elegant and sophisticated all at once. I topped the dress off with wearing my mother in law’s veil. Everything went so perfectly together.

Why Dana Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I went to Kleinfelds for FUN. Not with wanting to pay a ton for a dress I was going to wear once. Well I ended up trying on a dress that was out of my budget and then fell in love. I left Kleinfelds without the dress. I then found a Lazaro sample sale and even thou they didn’t have my dress they were willing to order it for me and give me the trunk show price. Even with the discount it was out of my budget but I was willing to splurge. Not many brides have that option to splurge on a gown for their big day. So I would love to give another bride the opportunity to wear a Lazaro gown. It isn’t going to do any good sitting in a closet at my parent’s house (let’s be honest who has room in their apartment for a wedding gown).
