Crystal + David | J. Mendel Wedding from Amanda Pomilla Photography

Crystal + David’s rustic autumn wedding was perfectly vintage with tons of antique decor handpicked for their special day…complete with outdoor I Do’s under old oak trees and a gorgeous hanging chandelier (with an authentic ordained cowboy to boot!).  Crystal looks beautiful in her J. Mendel trumpet wedding gown with asymmetrical neckline.  The traditional lace veil, a single string of pearls and dainty white gloves are a delicious touch for this vintage inspired wedding.  And to complete the entire look – gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces made entirely of dusty pale pink roses – perfect!

The Ceremony
The 18th was important to me as it’s the Hebrew number that represents a blessed life.  We also rushed to say our “I Do’s” just 8 months after the proposal as the year 2013 was also important!  Three is my favorite number, what can I say, I’m a numbers gal!  We had an intimate ceremony of just 43 guests total took place under beautiful oak trees and a chandelier hanging above.  Maid of honor and best man by our sides, we were surrounded by our closest friends and family.  My husbands mentor through his photography upbringing, Carl Deal, was ordained to officiate our ceremony.  Besides the food being left to the professionals, my husband and I created every element to our special day on our own.  We are both creative individuals and it was important that our day reflected us and who we are.  This resulted in months of seeking the perfect antiques to give that vintage touch!  Treasure we will now have forever as a beautiful memory.

The Reception
Our venue was a beautiful ranch set in the hill country just 40 minutes from Austin.  The cabins were most guests stayed were hand crafted one of a kind and peacocks surrounded the beautiful grounds.  We knew it was perfect the minute we arrived.  The reception was followed at the rustic barn on site of the ranch.  We filled every bit of the space with personalized frames and antiques treasures!  It wasn’t long before everyone kicked off their heels and danced the night away!

Crystal’s Dress Search
Too many to count!  I searched long and hard for my dream lace gown which is what I always pictured myself in.  I bought what I thought was THE dress but like many other brides out there, I panicked and changed my mind.  The lace dress felt too safe and predictable, I wanted more of a statement dress!  Being that my husband is a professional photographer and with all the fashion he is exposed to, I really wanted something that would impress him.  When I put on the J. Mendel dress, it was something different and unique I hadn’t seen before.  It had such a couture feeling and most importantly, it made me feel like a bride!

Fashionable, Elegant and Beautiful

Crystal Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
To be honest, I never really considered keeping it. Oddly enough, I feel more attached to the items I hand-crafted and searched long and hard for.  It must be my practical mind-set, I know I will never wear the dress again!  I have so much to remind me of that day like the belt and gloves I had made from my great grandmothers wedding dress.  Those items I will treasure forever but the dress, its just a dress to me! Don’t get me wrong I will be sad perhaps even shed a few tears when it comes time to part with it but that’s when I will remind myself why we invested in our fabulous photographer!  I have breathtaking photos to remember it all!
