We featured Cory and Chris’ engagement session a couple months ago on Once Wed, so when Kate Murphy sent over images from their wedding I was so excited about the opportunity to feature more of this lovely couple on the site. The story behind Cory’s wedding dress is probably my favorite to date, and with the bride and groom both being in the design field you can imagine how stylish and fun the entire celebration was. The beautiful bride, Cory, sent over some more details behind their day…
We made the decision to have our wedding in Nashville because we knew Chris’s family and all our northern friends would really enjoy the city, and we loved the idea of a southern, laid-back, and low-key affair. Our inspiration for the wedding came first and foremost from the venue…the Belle Meade Plantation is such a beautiful location and really speaks for itself. It has a very rustic, vintage, old South feel, which we thought would be quite a treat for all the Philadelphians and New Yorkers attending the wedding. Being an interior designer, the color scheme was very important to me as I know color can set the mood for any occasion. Our colors actually came about after I found the fun bridesmaid dresses at Anthropologie; I was also working on a project at the time where the client wanted a different iteration of purple in each room of their apartment…so I guess I was in a purple mood! I think weddings should be festive and joyful, which for me is accomplished through color, and luckily we could really go there with the neutral grey backdrop of the Carriage House.
Stay tuned for Part II coming up next!
