This is a really pretty wedding set in the backyard of the bride’s family home in Houston, Texas. The pops of vibrant color amidst all the amazing greenery of the landscaped yard is really magical. I love the intimacy of a wedding hosted privately by loved ones. And what a special experience to see the space transform when you add a beautiful white tent, crisp white folding chairs, lush flower arrangments and ethereal paper lanterns emitting the warmest and most inviting light. Christina looks equally magical in her Vera Wang gown, Ethel. The Mikado silk offers such a flawless and flattering silhouette without compromising comfort, ease and complete elegance. Perfect!

The Ceremony
Our wedding was on May 25, 2013 in my childhood backyard in Houston. My father had designed and built our family home and I went onto become a structural engineer and architect; so to have it there was of particular significance and sentiment to me. The ceremony was in the backyard, under an arch my father made and surrounded by flower & vegetable gardens that my parents had cultivated since my childhood.
The Reception
The reception was in a white pole tent setup in the backyard. The bride’s father made a photo booth wall complete with pictures of the couple and passed loved ones. Dinner was catered by Goode Co and served with signature cocktails created by the couple with ingredients from the family garden. The children’s table was stocked with bandanas and cowboy hats. The children in the extended family were definitely no strangers to the dance floor. The father-daughter dance was set to a Frank Sinatra song covered by the bride’s father, much to the surprise of many of the guests, who swore he had the same timbre to the voice as the legend himself.
Christina’s Dress Search
After trying on a variety of dresses, I realized that the mermaid-style was a favorite (and confirmed by the opinions of her sisters and bridesmaids) and I especially loved the architectural detail, folds, and draping of Vera Wang’s dresses.
How Christina Felt in Her Wedding Dress
This Vera Wang gown felt glamorous, classic and elegant all at the same time.
Why Christina Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
Living in San Francisco where space is limited, I sadly decided to sell this dress.
