Cassandra + Matt’s La Jolla wedding was ‘Romantic, classic and fun.” Guests enjoyed pre-ceremony cocktails, a breathtaking ocean view and a meaningful ceremony. I love how majestic yet simple the decor for the ceremony is…lush floral arrangements lining the back row, orchids at the altar with pillaring palm trees on either side of the bride and groom. Don’t miss more decor delights for the reception, the different shades of blush, cream and lavender for the bridesmaid dresses or how the ruching in the ladies gowns perfectly complements Cassandra’s ivory organza wave bridal ball gown by Lazaro. Enjoy!

The Ceremony
We did our “first look” before the ceremony, as we wanted a little bit of time together before the shenanigans began. We also took our wedding party photos prior to the ceremony. The ceremony was amazing!! My husband’s friend that he grew up with officiated the ceremony. He’s also currently a pastor. It was great having someone who knows us so well officiate because he was able to really make it personal! Half of my family is Jewish and my husband’s side is Serbian so we intertwined a little of everything. My husband stepped on the glass when the ceremony was over and everyone yelled Mazel Tov! We had our wrists tied together and walked around our parents (Serbian tradition) signifying unity. We also had our cousins read a couple scriptures from the bible (our Christian side). We then had two friends read “our story/how we met” as if they were us. That was everyone’s favorite part! Everyone was served a cocktail when arriving for the ceremony and then cocktail hour flowed after the ceremony with hors d’oeuvres from Giuseppe.
The Reception
When planning the wedding, we had two things that were “musts”…great food and a great DJ! Two things we feel people remember most at weddings. So we went with Giuseppe of Giuseppe Catering who did a fantastic job and Mick, “The Elite British DJ”. Dinner was amazing and was a served plated dinner. Guests had the choice of halibut, short ribs, or vegetarian lasagna. Guests went straight into dancing after dinner and danced the night away. The dance floor was NEVER empty!! Our DJ ended the night with three techno songs and the glow sticks were brought out. Our wedding was very classy and elegant and turned into a party with everyone having a blast. EXACTLY what my husband and I wanted – romantic, classic and fun. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Cassandra’s Dress Search
I had my heart set on a Lazaro gown but didn’t think it would be in my mother’s price range as she was buying my dress for me. I also pictured having a more of a mermaid dress style. I ended up with a Lazaro gown (my dream) but it was actually more ballgown-esque! I also got a second dress that did end up more of a mermaid style to wear for most of the reception, as the Lazaro gown was a little too “poofy” to dance around in all night. So I got the best of both worlds!!!
