“There is a graceful understated elegance about Chessie, and when she approached me to work with her on her wedding I knew our aesthetics were a match made in heaven. Chessie and Simon wanted a sophisticated yet inviting event design where their family traditions would be honored and their love celebrated. The venue was selected in close proximity to Chessie’s childhood home so she and the bridesmaids could spend a relaxed morning getting ready in comfort. It was important to the couple to have a private moment in the backyard to see each other and then with their immediate families to sign the Ketubah, a Jewish custom, before the larger ceremony. The ceremony was rich with both Jewish and Christian influences and both of their mothers read passages. Since the venue itself had detailed interior design, we decided to keep the tablescapes, papers and florals more clean and simple. Touches of mauve and eggplant gave the otherwise neutral color palette depth. Once guests were seated, a beautiful plated dinner was served followed by an evening of dancing and conversation on the verandas.”
