Ashley + Doug’s destination wedding to Wailea Beach, Maui was intimate, personal and perfectly charming. All 25 of their guests look relaxed and full of joy as today’s featured couple said ‘I Do’ in a public park over looking Wailea Beach. I love that! Other personal touches from this special day: really vibrant a bold floral patterned personalized dresses for the bridal party – such a great way to stay on a budget with lots of opportunity to wear these dresses again…the simple and subtle table decor – mason jars, wild flowers and a charming hand drawn bride and groom sketch on the menu card (very sweet and simple). And my favorite, Ashley’s Lazaro dress in ivory silk satin with a ruched bodice, sweetheart neckline, jewel encrusted band at natural waist, complete with a full gathered ball gown skirt. Enjoy!

The Ceremony + Reception
We got married in what was technically a public park area on the beach, but it was basically just a grassy hill overlooking the ocean. We only had 25 people in Maui with us and we were on a major budget so we decided to do a dinner in a private room at Mala Wailea restaurant overlooking the pool and ocean of our Wailea Beach Marriott Hotel. After a three-course meal and cake, we went to a local bar to dance the night away.
Ashley’s Dress Search
I live in Los Angeles and work in fashion so I knew I wanted a fabulous dress without looking like a cupcake or too bride-y. I wanted elegance. I knew I was on a budget so that a Vera Wang might be out of my price range but I liked designers Tara Keely and Lazaro. So my mom and I headed to a local Beverly Hills salon and started looking for a fitted or mermaid type gown. I thought that because I am so small I didn’t want anything pouffy to wear me instead of me wearing it. After trying seven of those fitted dresses, I tried what the salesman recommended, which was a full skirt dress from Lazaro. I was shocked because I immediately fell in love! I had only just gotten engaged and hadn’t even set a date or location, but my mom and I ordered and bought that Lazaro that same day! Later I was upset when I moved the location from Palm Springs to Maui because I felt the gown might be too formal, but it turned out to be so perfect words could not describe how I felt! This dress made me feel like the ultimate bride even though I had a small wedding. I was beyond happy!

Why Ashley Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I decided to sell my dress because while I love it, I have no room for it in my small West Hollywood condo and we need help paying for our upcoming Greece honeymoon! I would also love to make some other bride as happy as I was with the dress on! It would be a shame to let it go to waste in my closet!
