Complete with a romantic Mediterranean backdrop and a beautiful Danielle Caprese wedding dress, today’s featured destination wedding comes to us from the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. We love the eye-catching beaded neckline and low back of Danielle’s gown…and the form fitting lace and chapel train are breathtaking. Congrats Annika + Justin on your recent nuptials and thanks for sharing!
The Ceremony Justin is from Australia and I am from Finland and we met in New York where we started a life together. We wanted a destination wedding, since all of our friends and family live in different parts of the world, and we liked the idea of everyone traveling and spending some time in a beautiful place together. We picked Dubrovnik, Croatia, because it was a destination neither of us had been to before, which looked stunning and a bit less of a “typical” wedding destination than say Italy or France. After looking at a number of different venues together with the wedding planners, we decided to hold the wedding at the gorgeous Palm Terrace at Hotel Excelsior, overlooking the old town of Dubrovnik.
There were about 90 people who attended the wedding. The ceremony was very personal, we wrote and read our own vows, and added little touches like a rose ceremony where roses were given to the mothers of the bride and groom, a grandmother and an auntie. Friends of the bride and groom performed a song that had been a part of Justin’s proposal video to Annika.
The Reception After the ceremony, we walked over to the little harbor in Dubrovnik with our wedding guests, where we boarded a boat and had champagne together for a couple hours. After that, the guests walked back to Hotel Excelsior where hors d’ouvres were served along with drinks, and photos were taken, before the start of the official dinner reception. At the dinner reception, eight speeches were held and there were some games, delicious food, wedding dance, bouquet throwing, wedding cake, and later an after party at a centrally located, popular club.
Annika’s Dress Search I tried on about 30 dresses before the wedding. The dress I picked, however, was the FIRST dress I tried on, at Kleinfeld’s in New York. My girlfriends and I all agreed that nothing else compared to this dress, which was exactly what I was looking for, and more! I knew I wanted a fitted dress in lace, with a low-cut back, and on top of that, this one had beautiful sparkly details around the neck and back line. It literally took my breath away!
