The Ceremony
Owned by my mother, a beautiful eco-estate on eight acres nestled in Ojai, California is nicknamed the Shangri-La of Southern California. With 300-degree open mountain views, this true eco-home is set against the backdrop of a two-acre certified organic farm and community supported agriculture (CSA). Sharing our “I do’s” on this family-owned and loved property made this beautiful celebration even more sentimental. The ceremony was all about the view and florals. I wanted our guests to really experience the beauty of the Ojai Valley where I grew up and it was certainly hard not to appreciate it while surrounded but the beautiful mountains. However, I still wanted that touch of glam so we made sure the floral arbor made an impression, the chairs were beautiful cane backs, persian rugs lined the aisle, the wedding party was decked out with ornate necklaces and bow ties and my dress was definitely not understated.
The Reception
I love the rustic and organic landscape of my mother’s farm but it was important to me that my wedding day be fabulous and glamorous at the same time. My goal was to marry these two styles. I loved the juxtaposition of the organic landscape with sprawling Topa Topa mountains and organic farm surrounding the luxurious tent with chandeliers, gold-rimmed champagne flutes and shabby chic furniture. The color palette and vibe was intended to be feminine, soft and romanic with shades of ivory, gold, blush and natural greens from all the florals and landscaping. Much of the wedding meal came from the farm, including the chickens giving the wedding a rustic, yet glamorous, farm-to-table feel.
Ann Marie’s Dress Search
This was the first dress I tried on, not exaggerating. I wanted to feel like a bride but I also wanted to be glamorous and this gown is definitely bridal glam! The backdrop of the wedding was very natural and rustic and I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the glam dress in an organic setting.
How Ann Marie Felt in Her Wedding Dress
Glamorous, like a woman becoming a wife…not a girl anymore (mature), classy.
Why Ann Marie Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I’m pregnant! And as much as I adore my dress it’s time to make some sacrifices. The money from the sale of the dress will be going towards the nursery and baby necessities.
