Splashes of blue accented this destination wedding with an international guestlist. Akina and Christopher hosted their nearest and dearest in a small village in Northern Ireland at a traditional church wedding followed by a brewery reception. Akina was a stunning bride in her daring Monique Lhuillier “Mila” wedding dress which combined delicate lace with a refined skirt split. A modern twist on a classic wedding look.
Akina + Christopher | August 11, 2014 | Hillsborough, Northern Ireland | Dress Listing: Monique Lhuillier, Mila
The Ceremony
We planned the full wedding and reception ourselves, though we were in Japan at the time and the wedding was to be in Northern Ireland. Our wedding was a small gathering of close family, and some friends who travelled all the way from Japan for our special day. Our ceremony was in a a beautiful church built over 350 years ago, set in the picturesque town of Hillsborough.
The Reception
The reception was in a microbrewery and restaurant set in an old Georgian style building. President Obama even visited it when he was in Northern Ireland!
Akina’s Dress Search
I tried on over 30 dresses, but the dress I chose was the first one that I tried on. Initially I fell in love with it and trying on more dresses only helped to confirm that this was the dress for me.
How Akina Felt in Her Wedding Dress

Why Akina Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
