We love Kylie’s wedding dress story. She knew, without a doubt that she’d found her gown the instant she spotted it online. But the price tag meant she’d have to chose between the dress and debt.
Except with PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com she didn’t.
Kylie bought the dress on our site, wore it to her picture perfect beach nuptials , and then sold it again on PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com to another bride who she knew would love it as much as she did.
Kylie’s story is so smart and modern we asked to her to share more. Here’s what she said.
Did you know exactly what you wanted when you started your dress search?
Like most women I had a general idea of the style I was looking for. I knew I wanted a backless dress and was positive that was the way I was going to go so I started looking on Instagram for dresses. My search resulted in foreign named designers that rolled off the tongue such as Galia Lahav, Inbal Dror, Pallas Couture. These gowns were made to stun and mesmerize. The problem was that these dresses came in at $9,000 dollars each at the least and I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend that much on a gown. I was torn between breaking my bank and my credit cards, and just settling for a non brand-name inexpensive wedding dress. So I kept googling hours at work, at home, at the grocery store, endless googling.
How did your know your gown was the one?
One night, I came across an article on Bridal Musings that listed “10 Backless Wedding Dress Designers”. As I scrolled through, one picture in particular hit me hard in the throat. I had palpitations and felt overcome with irrationally emotion and knew that this delicate sheer laced gown in the picture was to envelop my body on my wedding day. The dress was not backless ironically but gorgeous in every way. The way I felt about this dress when I first saw it can be compared to how I felt about my husband when I first saw him from across the room before we even knew each other. The dress’s name was “Graciela” by Liz Martinez.
I immediately typed in the google search bar “Graciela by Liz Martinez for sale”. I would sadly find out that this dress too was financially going to be a set back for me and this is no way I wanted to start off my marriage (in debt from my wedding dress).
Three days of googling the same thing passed by and one day a different link showed up among the results in google. My dress was for sale on Preownedweddingdresses.com. I wanted to make sure this site wasn’t a scam so I read the “about” page twice. I read about my dress and was very delighted at the listed price. It was listed for 1/4th of the price because “it has been worn once gently for 4 hours”. This seemed too good to be true!
I contacted the seller immediately and anxiously awaited a reply. I signed up to have PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com text me as soon as a reply was sent to my inbox.
The transaction was made over PayPal and the dress was sent to me from Israel by a seller called Bridal Bop. I received my wedding dress and it fit like a glove!
What was your wedding theme? How did you see your gown fitting into that?
We got married in the Virgin Islands, my dress was sheer and lacey so it fit perfectly with the slight Caribbean breeze and the bright colors of the ocean.
What three words describe how you felt in your dress?
Pulchritudinous, Delicate, Idyllic
Why did you decide to sell your gown?
I wanted to share the way I felt with someone in the same situation as me. Someone who didn’t want to break the bank but wanted to wear an extravagant dress. Why not help someone’s dream come true as someone did for me? Pay it forward I always say.
Did you strike a connection with the bride who bought your gown?
I did. She was from Germany and had lived in California for a year and was leaving in two days and decided she wanted my dress last minute. Said “I keep coming back to your dress, I cannot stop thinking about it”. I told her I would even pay for it to be same day shipped to California. She stated she could maybe drive and pick it up and then fly out the next day! Ha ha to say the least we thought of everything. Then she texted me at 9pm and said “I have a friend visiting Vegas, can she pick it up from you tomorrow if that’s okay and drive it back to me and I will fly out that day back to Germany”. So my gown has traveled from Israel, to Las Vegas to Germany to who knows where next!
