I was absolutely thrilled when the lovely ladies from Belathée sent over the wedding of Alyce and Edward for a feature on the blog. Alyce read Once Wed while planning her wedding, so it was a real treat to hear from her and have the opportunity to share her gorgeous Catskills wedding with everyone today. More from Alyce…
I first met Edward (okay really just saw him) by chance when visiting my parents. He was playing music on the local public access channel and I swiftly looked up his band in the local newspaper. They were having a show that night so I decided I to go. MANY years after this moment, we were engaged! We married in a chapel in the hills of Tannersville, NY with all of Edward’s musician friends from past and present participating in the ceremony. The fireplace was glowing and every other chair had lace draped across the back. The wedding party walked into “Lion’s Mane” by Iron and Wine and my father and I walked into “Which Will” by Nick Drake. Then a duet of “If I should Fall Behind” by Bruce Springstein really brought me to tears.
The flower girls carried paper flower balls and the ring bearer carried our rings on a lovely cross stitch that was made by miniature rhino. I wrapped my grandmother’s necklace around my bouquet as my “something old” to keep her close. The bagpipe player was a gift from a friend and it really made a sweet ending to our ceremony. Being very music oriented himself, my new husband then performed a surprise song for me at the wedding. Finally, a rainbow appeared and I really had to pinch myself!
