From the bride, Lisa:
“Pierre and I are both bi-national and have friends and family scattered all over the world. We wanted to use our wedding as an excuse to get everyone together in one place for a few days to relax and celebrate. We wanted a place that felt comfortable, where we wouldn’t feel rushed, and where we could stay up all night dancing – which we did.
We decided to get married in Provence because we both have family nearby, and we both love the relaxed while sophisticated feeling of that part of France. (Oh, and Provençal food!) The color palette and style came naturally out of the venue we chose and the natural landscape. Our dear friends from Vermont hosted a Japanese tea ceremony for us during the ceremony. My mom, who is an ordained pastor, officiated the marriage. My personal style choices for the wedding stemmed from Pierre’s choice of engagement ring. Pierre commissioned the sculptural jeweler, Lisa Linhardt, to create a custom engagement ring for me that was architectural deco with a contemporary twist. The ring is stunning, and was the basis for the custom wedding rings Lisa subsequently created for us. Lisa also creates exquisite, bold editorial pieces and agreed to rent some of her editorial jewelry to me for the wedding.
For my dress, I knew I wanted a dress that was minimal and modern, but with weight and movement in the same vein of Lisa Linhardt’s sculptural jewelry. After I chose the dress, Lisa Linhardt chose the cuff and earrings to match. (I also borrowed a number of other pieces from her for the time we were in France both before and after the wedding. Wearing such unique jewelry throughout our time in France made everything—even just going out to a simple lunch or to run errands—feel just a notch above.) My good friend Vanessa found me the perfect shoes to bring it all together—the curve in the cut-out of the vintage-inspired wedge matched the curve of the cuff and the movement of the outer shell of my dress perfectly. With such a modern outfit, I wanted my flowers to bring in some of the romance and wild of the countryside.”
