Canadian couple, Isara and Dave hosted their wedding in Isara’s hometown of Bangkok. Isara wanted a city wedding while Dave wanted a beach location. Already compromising like a married couple, they decided to present venue options to each other and pick a favorite. Isara’s pick won out and they hosted their I dos on a beautiful rooftop setting in a boutique hotel. This was a destination wedding their guests won’t soon forget.

The Ceremony
We had a civil ceremony in Canada so the ceremony itself in Bangkok was really, ceremonious more than anything. The location had fake grass floor, so I wanted to embrace that with lots of green. The inspiration that I had in mind was “woodland fairy princess”, and specifically asked the venue to only use white flowers. Our friend who is an amazing public speaker was our officiant, my husband walked both my mother and his mother in to the ceremony, and my father walked me down the aisle to “Better Place” cover (originally by Rachel Platten).
The Reception
We absolutely loved our venue, but with the number of guests that we wanted to have, it wasn’t possible for us to do a sit down dinner, so we opted for a cocktail style reception. We had three food stations (BBQ, pasta station, and duck station) and what seemed like an unlimited amount of ten selections of canapes. The venue was set up with multiple lounge areas with one dance floor so it was light hearted in a mingling atmosphere which was great because probably 90% of our guests, we don’t see regularly (aside from his family, only one couple that came to our wedding live in the same city as us). We served our signature cocktail, Vancouver Rain, to honour the city that we met and fell in love in.
Isara’s Wedding Dress Search
I must have tried on close to forty dresses in Vancouver, Toronto, and Bangkok combined ! They were all so so beautiful, but my indecisiveness really came out during my dress hunt. By the end I knew exactly what I wanted, and that was 1. Dropped waist, 2. Dramatic bottom, and 3. NOT PLAIN. The third criteria was hard because I didn’t want lace, and I didn’t want a belt, but when I tried this Jim Hjelm dress on, I was like, I think this is it. The back embellishment was probably my favourite part of the dress, but the tulle at the bottom was also crazy beautiful, and it photographs so gorgeously even if I say so myself.
Three Words To Describe How She Felt In Her Jim Hjelm Gown
I can’t! I’m a woman of many words !! It was clean and classy, but it was WOW without being in your face, it’s the epitome of the type of woman that I want to be actually, unassuming, with a hint of glam, and unforgettable.
Why She Is Selling Her Wedding Dress
I felt so special in that dress, and I love that my husband loved it, so I can’t stand the idea of it being put in storage (condo living means it doesn’t even fit in my closet). I would love for someone to feel as beautiful in that dress as I did.
