Jennifer + Trevor’s destination wedding in Puerto Rico is chalk full of beachy boho real wedding inspiration. A relaxed and wavy hairstyle paired with a playful pearl headband for the bride, pretty French braids for the bridesmaids and lovely linen pants and matching vest for the groom…all make for an easygoing yet delightfully elegant affair. And how neat that today’s featured wedding dress was actually found right here on PreOwnedWeddingdresses.com. But it gets better – Jennifer sent us a note only hours ago to say that just last night this beautiful ivory lace, deep v-neck Jim Hjelm gown was sold and will be going to another bride! Another happy ending and a new beginning for a very special dress!
Jennifer + Trevor | September 18, 2014 | Arecibo, Puerto Rico | Dress Listing: Jim Hjelm, JH8011
The Ceremony
We were married on September 18, 2014 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. We got engaged on the beach during a vacation, so we wanted to continue with the beach theme and get married on the beach, too! We decided on Puerto Rico, because it was the most affordable option for our family and friends! The flights to Puerto Rico are reasonable and you don’t need a passport! We all rented houses on the beach and Trevor and I stayed in a gorgeous house with the bridal party.
Funny enough, the only day it rained in Arecibo, was on our wedding day. We woke up and it was the perfect morning! About an hour before the ceremony, thunderclouds started rolling in and it down poured. We had to delay the ceremony by about an hour and a half, because we desperately wanted to get married outside on the beach, instead of moving it inside. It finally stopped raining and we made it through the ceremony without more than a few sprinkles! Our friend officiated the wedding and Trevor’s 90-year-old grandfather walked me down the aisle, so it was really special. Trevor surprised me with a different wedding band than we had picked out! Right after the ceremony it started down pouring again and we took cover under a gazebo.
The Reception
The best part about the reception was the food. We had an incredible caterer that served really authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Our best friends gave incredible speeches and the cupcakes we had were honestly some of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had! The rest of the night, we danced with the thunder roaring over the ocean. It was truly beautiful and a night that I’ll never forget.
Jennifer’s Dress Search
I tried on probably twenty different dresses. I had originally gone out with a friend to two different places and found NOTHING. Then, Trevor surprised me by flying my best friend (and maid of honor) out to Seattle from Chicago to go dress shopping with me. We went to one place, and tried on probably ten different dresses. I loved them all, but I ended up with the dress that my best friend had picked out! It was really special, because she picked it out. I choose the one I did, because it was EXACTLY what I had in mind and I knew that Trevor would love it. It was form-fitting mermaid style, with a deep-v and an open back, and looked great in natural light. It was lacy, and sexy, but fit for the beach, because of the deep v and open back. I wore a sparkly headband to make it a little boho and beachy!

Why Jennifer Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I decided to sell my dress because I actually purchased this dress through this website! When I was with my best friend and found “the one”, it was twice as much as I had wanted to spend. I was heartbroken; because I knew that this was the dress I wanted. I frantically started searching the Internet for a cheaper, but similar dress. I stumbled upon PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com and found the exact same dress for LESS than I had budgeted for. Who cares that it had been worn ONCE before? It was still the perfect dress. Long story short, I wanted to give another bride the same opportunity I had. Nobody should go without the perfect dress because it’s too expensive.
