Meaghan + Alan | Christos Wedding from Peter Coombs Photography

This Chicago wedding is traditional with a twist! Keeping the classic wedding elements at the heart of Meaghan + Alan’s special day, upon second glance there are some lovely details that give this wedding a fresh approach…really flattering pink bridesmaid dresses in alternate styles…a reception inspired by Chicago’s Latin motto, “City in a Garden”…and my favorite, Meaghan’s Christos gown called Maribel.  I am in love with how this dress maintains a traditional style while showcasing some really unique design details – dotted silk organza with hand pleated bust, full A-line skirt and a soft bow in the back. So romantic and so sweet. Congrats to the happy couple!

The Ceremony + Reception
We had a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Josaphat Parish in Lincoln Park.  Our reception was held at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park, with a cocktail hour, sit down dinner and dancing late into the night.  The vibe of the reception was inspired by Chicago’s latin motto “Urbs in Horto – City in a Garden” because we wanted to both celebrate our city and feel like we were having a destination wedding at the same time!

Meaghan’s Dress Search
Mostly I knew a lot about what I didn’t want: no lace, no “bling”, no pick-ups…all in all, I wanted something classic with a twist, and that is exactly how I would describe my dress.  All my guests said they had never seen anything like it.

Why Meaghan Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
Despite all my guests saying I should keep it as an heirloom, I neither have the space nor the desire to make my daughters (if any) wear it.
