Mikaila and Jun’s September ceremony at Vintage Villas Hotel & Events in Austin was a perfect pink multicultural wedding blending Eastern and Western cultures with style and sophistication! The bride and groom met when they were still in high school; both classical musicians, they met at a summer music festival and started a long-distance relationship. Six years later, they were engaged and living in the same city. Their love of music helped them bridge the distance and grow close. Mikaila says, “He is my best friend, my biggest fan, and the best duet partner anyone could ask for.” Daniel C. Photography captured their celebration of American and South Korean cultures!
A perfect pink multicultural wedding in Austin, TX
My gown was a Mori Lee dress, and I liked the fit and flare style. I loved how simple and classic it looked. My husband is from South Korea, and the majority of his family still lives there. We had a bilingual ceremony – the pastor spoke in English and Korean. I wore a traditional Korean dress called a “hanbok” for pictures and part of the reception. I really liked the meshing of two cultures. For the ceremony, we had two readers read the same verse – one in Korean and one in English. My husband’s suit was designed by his uncle, Eungil Seo, owner of “Gil Homme,” who is a fashion designer in Seoul, South Korea. He custom designed it for Jun, and I loved the old fashioned bow tie!
Instead of a guest book, we had a quilt that was made for us by a family friend, and people signed the squares in the quilt with well wishes for us! It is great, we have it in our living room and love reading the messages! Our programs were fans for guests to use in the Texas heat. We chose a cupcake tower with strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla cupcakes, and we had a small two tier cake at the top for cutting. I loved the idea of cupcakes for simplicity, and I liked how cute the tower looked!
My wonderful florist was also my wedding planner – April Klotz, and her business is called Petalworks. I wanted big blooms, and my favorite flowers are peonies. Little did I know that peonies are not in season in the fall! April helped me come up with beautiful alternatives like garden roses and zinnias. – Mikaila
