Abby and Devin chose a stroll through Arnold Arboretum in Boston on a cool day in April for their engagement session. This adorable couple couldn’t stop laughing or smiling, and Deborah Zoe Photo did an amazing job capturing their joy! Don’t you just love the dreamy lighting?
Abby is a 3rd grade teacher and Devin is a computer geek, and they’re clearly perfect for each other. Abby shares how they got engaged, It happened on Saturday (July 24th). We visited my parents to hang out and say goodbye (we were headed to Turkey shortly!). My parents made reservations to go to dinner at 5, but while I was out kayaking with my mom in the afternoon, Devin left to “get some things.” It was 4:00 and he still wasn’t back or answering my phone calls, so I’m started to get a little angry with him, and I wandered into the garden when he comes around the corner all dressed up (I’m a little confused – he came up in his shorts and Hawaiian attire). He then asks me if I’m ready for dinner and where is my dress. I tell him I don’t have a dress – we aren’t going anywhere fancy. As I come around the corner there is a limo in the driveway!
He takes me inside and hands me a very sexy little black dress to change into and a box of jewelry with some earrings and necklaces in it if I want to wear. I tell him and my parents “I’m starting to feel like I have been set up…” and go change. When I come out, there is a line of my shoes waiting for me (all different styles). I pick out my shoes and we get into the limo (after several pictures my mom takes of us of course).
In the limo he gives me a single red rose as we meander up to North Conway to the secret restaurant. I’m trying to guess the entire way up, but to no avail. We arrive at the Conway Scenic Railroad and it clicks – we’re dining on the train! We pick up our tickets and board the train for a beautiful 4 course meal.
When we returned to the station, we climbed back into the limo and headed to the next secret location – the hotel (which ends up being the North Conway Grand). When we walk in, there is a table facing us with candles lit and a HUGE bouquet of red roses with a card. Then he tells me to open the little gold box on the table. I open the box, but it is empty. When I turn around, there is Devin holding another little box! He gets down on his knee (and shows me a gorgeous ring) and asks me to marry him which, of course, I say “Oh my God, YES!” Was I surprised? YES!
