We always love showcasing the beautiful work of Amy Osaba Events, an Atlanta-based floral designer (who also does destination events!). Amy recently welcomed a group of talented floral designers for a hands-on workshop, sharing tricks and tips on achieving their signature lush, wild, and loose wedding flower designs. Read on for more from this very creative team about their floral workshop:
“This year, we have curated our workshop around an Old World + English garden aesthetic. Full of soft and airy florals, overly mossed scenery, and feminine details, this vision inspired our attendees to be more emotionally connected with their creations. They gathered inspiration from textures found in nature and peaceful moments experienced throughout the day. Much of our personal work has been driven by stories, and we structured our workshop so that our inspiration was solely the starting point; the ending was left to the individual.
From the dress, to the paper, all the way to the farewell dinner, we created a very tactile experience. Our designs rely highly on touch. The dense nature of garden roses, the velvet hint of tweedia, or the fragile petals of sweet pea all dictate our flower creations. We wanted our attendees to recognize the patterns of the moss growing along the rocks and translate them into their work. We wanted our model to mimic the glimmers of light in the streams in the way she moved her dress. Recognizing all these fine details in the surroundings simplified the creation process. Creating is only difficult when you give too many parameters. By giving ourselves a couple notes of inspiration, we were able to direct our attention to capturing the fine details rather than an overarching concept.”
