Lavender and Lilac Inspired Outdoor Wedding in California
Viewing Ashley and Bryant’s wedding photos from Once Wed Premium Vendor Emily Blake creates an instantaneous feeling of serenity, calm, and simplicity. Perhaps it’s the quiet sense of sophistication the bride exudes, or the delicate lavender and lilac inspired color palette. Or, perhaps that’s just the way the couple wanted their wedding day to feel!
The bride trusted her wedding planners, Twine Events, to take inspiration from the seasonal beauty of the gardens at their venue and let that dictate their wedding design choices. What’s our favorite part of their wedding? The color palette. From Ashley’s tidy, textured bouquet featuring delicate hues of lavender and light blue (ranunculus, anemones, frittilaria, tulips, spray roses, and muscari) to the bridesmaid’s misty lilac dresses, to the more saturated reception centrepieces with bolder purples and greens, the infusion of color is sophisticated, whimsical, and elegant.

“Bryant and I were friends in junior high and started dating junior year of high school. We always knew we would get married one day, but because we were busy with school, pursuing our careers, and moving all over the place, we waited 11 years to finally tie the knot!
My wedding style came together very organically— I let the seasonal beauty of the gardens at San Ysidro dictate the colors, florals, and food. I wanted the day to feel natural and not overly produced but still very elegant and special, so we went with loose floral arrangements, blooming branches, bridesmaid dresses in various styles, and a whimsical custom emblem designed by Happy Menocal. I never considered what my wedding gown would look like, so I went into the process with an open mind. I tried on many gowns at several stores and ultimately found my dress at a Vera Wang trunk show. The collection was inspired by Madrid, Spain, and the floral appliqué on the gown reminded me of the rose gardens at San Ysidro; it was an obvious choice for me. Also, it didn’t have any boning or structure, so I felt very relaxed and comfortable in it.
We were simultaneously designing and launching our fashion e-commerce website, elborne, during our engagement, so planning of the two overlapped. It’s no coincidence that the misty lilac accent color on elborneliving.com is the same color as my bridesmaids dresses! Luckily, we had an incredible planner (Twine Events) that went above and beyond to make sure all our bases were covered, and the day went off without a hitch.”
