Mara and BJ were married at a historic venue that brought in some Spanish style to their wedding. Mara wore a glorious Jim Hjelm lace wedding dress that looked gorgeous in the gardens of this property. A playlist personally selected by the groom set off an amazing reception that kept people dancing into the wee hours!

The Ceremony
Both our ceremony and reception were at The Club Continental which is a Spanish style club house built in 1923 as the winter home of Caleb Johnson, heir to the Palmolive Soap Company. The ceremony was at sunset on the stone terrace facing the river. Since the grounds have such natural beauty, we had simple and elegant decor. There were beautiful vases filled with white peonies and candles that lined the walkway of the ceremony.
The Reception
The simple and elegant decor carried over into the reception, and included floating candles with small centerpieces on each table. There was a photo booth with props set up for our guests that doubled as a party favors as well as our guest book. Dinner was buffet style with lots of delicious options. Dancing started almost immediately after dinner. BJ had spent months picking out the music for each part of the wedding. We really wanted to incorporate as much of ourselves into the wedding as possible. Our cake was key lime pie flavor with no leftovers! We rented the boathouse behind the club so everyone was able to dance the night away. It was one of the best nights of our lives!
Mara’s Dress Search
I only tried on three dresses. As soon as I put on the Jim Hjelm dress I knew that it was the dress I was going to get married in!

Why Mara Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I know that I will never wear it again and I would love if someone had the opportunity to feel the way I did on my wedding day.
