These pair of lovebirds traveled from Scotland to marry at a rustic Texas destination wedding! His and hers cocktails, a completely organic menu and a dessert table pleased Jenna and Barry’s wedding guests inside the barn. Touches of the couple’s Scottish heritage were infused throughout: lavender, kilts, bagpipers and Proclaimers song quotes. So delightful!

The Ceremony
Our ceremony was an intimate outdoor one on the lawn of the Barr Mansion in front of the rose garden at twilight. We had 50 guests: the majority flew in for the wedding from Scotland, England, Canada and out of state.
The Reception
Cocktails, dinner and dancing were held inside the Barr Mansion’s converted barn. The venue is the first certified organic venue in the country. The cocktail reception was initially supposed to be held in the Barr Mansion’s gorgeous outdoor courtyard however the weather was unseasonably windy and cool so the entire reception was moved inside the barn. The space was decorated by The Nouveau Romantics (who also did the flowers) to be a mid-summers dream filled with flowers and candles.
We served ‘his’ and ‘hers’ cocktails (Jack Daniels & Coke and pomegranate margaritas respectively) followed by passed hot appetizers and an organic three-course sit down dinner on a large banquet table that sat all 50 of our guests. The dessert table was set up on the ‘stage’ area with our chocolate wedding cake with salted caramel filling and vanilla buttercream taking center place. There were multiple options of organic handmade mini desserts from both Barr Mansion and Whole Foods bakery. Music played all night & we were piped in and out of our wedding by bagpipes played by a close family friend who flew all the way from Scotland.
Jenna’s Dress Search
I tried on about 10 dresses total and I chose my dress because I hadn’t seen anything like it in another store or on another bride. I didn’t think I wanted a “true mermaid” shape with a dramatic flare out but I loved the look and the neckline was unique and flattering. I thought it was classic, old Hollywood-striking but also had a soft, light femininity that would go well for an outdoor wedding in the spring.

Why Jenna Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
It makes me sad to think I might pull it out my closet or a box 10-20 years down the line and see it has lost its lustre. I’d rather remember it in its prime. It’s such a gorgeous gown, someone else should enjoy it too.
