Invite your friends and family for a destination getaway in Hawaii to celebrate your island wedding! After you’ve tied the knot and your guests have headed home, continue the celebration with a Hawaiian beach honeymoon. From ziplining adventures to dips in the pool, plan your trip to paradise and get ready for the destination wedding of your dreams.
Day 1
After months of planning, it’s finally time to say “Aloha” to your destination wedding in Hawaii. Check into your suite at the St. Regis Princeville Resort in Kauai—otherwise known as the “Garden Island.” You and your guests will be able to relax and unwind at the white-sand beaches, rich forests and enchanting towns.
With a busy two days ahead, take time to soak in the sights around the hotel. Pick up last-minute bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts at the resort gift shop so they can take a little piece of aloha spirit home. The rest of the day includes chilling by the pool while all of your family and guests arrive. Kick off the wedding festivities with sushi and cocktails at the Princeville Bar.
Day 2
Enjoy a breakfast feast with your wedding party and then rehearse the ceremony by the beach. Kiss your soon-to-be husband goodbye—the rest of the day is set for the bachelor and bachelorette parties. The guys head to the Princeville Makai Golf Club for a ten a.m. tee time. Halfway through the 18-hole golf course, they refuel with lunch and take a break to play disc golf. The daylight is almost gone, but not before a sunset golf cart tour around the course. The tour features scenic stops along Hanalei Bay and ends with dinner at Makai Grill.
While the guys are out breaking a sweat, the girls are pampering up. The Halele’a Spa is a haven for comfort and relaxation—and it’s right on the property. Go for the Island Indulgence manicure and pedicure. Your hands and feet will enjoy the extra-special treatment and a warm coconut oil mask will leave your face refreshed before the big day. Plus, treat your flower girl to her own Keiki manicure! The rest of the afternoon features endless margaritas poolside at Nalu Kai.
Day 3
The big day is here! You may not eat much the rest of the day, so start off with a big meal at Saenz Ohana Breakfast. The original Kauai benedict is top-notch and will keep you full as you prepare for your walk down the aisle. Head back to the Halele’a Spa to get your hair and makeup done, along with the rest of your bridal party. Mimosas are a must while getting ready in the Bali Hai Suite overlooking the ocean.
Your sunset ceremony beneath the kiawe tree is a dream come true. All thirty guests are in awe of the breathtaking view of the ocean and mountains behind you. The Hanalei room is perfect for your intimate reception—but keep the terrace doors open so you can soak in the romantic moonlight reflecting off the water.
Day 4
You are officially husband and wife! Now’s the time to sit back and enjoy married life. Your guests are heading home today, but not before the brunch buffet on the Makana Terrace. Hideaway Beach is just a five-minute walk from the resort where you and your new spouse can sip cocktails through the afternoon.
Wrap up your first day of married life at Bar Acuda—a local tapas restaurant. Split the strawberry cheesecake with a coconut-almond crust for dessert.
Day 5
After a few days around the hotel, it’s time to do something adventurous. Grab a quick breakfast at the hotel and head to Ha’ena State Park—just a forty-minute drive. Spend most of the afternoon exploring one of the ancient sea caves and sip from a coconut on the beach.
Before sunset, take a four-mile hike along the Hanakapiai Falls trail. Breathe in the natural beauty around you and listen to the soothing sounds of the picturesque waterfall. On your way back to the hotel, stop for fresh crab legs and calamari at The Hanalei Dolphin—located on the banks of the Hanalei River.
Day 6
Hanalei Bay has so much to offer and you’ll spend your entire day in the area. Pick out a new swimsuit at Pedal ‘n’ Paddle and get ready to hit the water! The Kauai combo adventure tour allows you to kayak down the Hanalei River and snorkel in the Bay Reef Lagoon. A picnic lunch awaits you on the shores of Hanalei Bay.
More shopping is in store for the afternoon. Bring home souvenirs from On the Road to Hanalei and do a little antique shopping at Yellow Fish Trading Company. A pit stop for a smoothie at Aloha Juice Bar is a must. Sit outside on the patio for dinner at Kalypso Island bar & grill. Be adventurous and try the Loco Moco—a burger with egg on top of rice and brown gravy.
Day 7
Start your morning engrossed in breathtaking art at the Aaron Feinberg gallery—named after the award-winning Kauai-based photographer. After strolling around the gallery, relax in one of the top-ranked infinity pools in the nation—located right at the resort!
A couples massage is a must-have for newlyweds. The Halele’a Spa is the perfect choice once again. A luxurious private cabana awaits you for dinner at Nalu Kai.
Day 8
A must-see place in Kauai is Waimea Canyon State Park and the two-hour drive is worth it. Enjoy a full-day guided tour around the park with stops at the Spouting Horn blowhole, the historic town of Hanapepe and numerous opportunities for gorgeous photos.
Head back to the hotel for a very romantic sunset dinner on the Makana Terrace. Get to bed early because tomorrow brings a new adventure.
Day 9
Head out on another kayaking trip—this time through the Wailua River. Once you reach the valley, walk on foot to the legendary “secret” Uluwehi Falls. It’s the perfect place to cool off and swim before heading back to the marina.
It wouldn’t be a honeymoon on the “Garden Island” if you didn’t fully immerse yourself in the beautiful lush garden surrounding you. Spend the rest of the evening watching beautiful plants and flowers thrive at the Princeville Botanical Gardens. A tour guide takes you through Kauai’s ecosystems along the garden’s terraces, creeks and valleys. End your day with a gourmet chocolate tasting paired with island fruits and honey.
Day 10
At this point, you owe it to yourself to have a lazy day at the resort. Sleep in and order room service for breakfast and plan on spending the rest of the day by the pool. Maybe even take a well-deserved nap before getting ready for the evening festivities.
You’ll love your special dinner treat—a traditional luau! Embrace the Hawaiian culture and enjoy live music, hula dancing, fire poi ball twirling and a spectacular buffet.
Day 11
The Princeville Ranch is just a ten-minute drive from the hotel. There you’ll enjoy a “Ride ‘N Glide” tour. Spend nearly two hours horseback riding with the Hanalei Mountains and Pacific Ocean as your backdrops.
After riding across the ranch, tie up your horse and harness up. Three fast and fun zip lines are waiting for you. The final zipline is called the Big Kahuna because it’s seven-hundred feet long! Just down the road is dinner at Tiki Niki. The food is amazing, but the drinks are the main attraction. Split the “Flaming Zombie.” This legendary drink (made to share) was created in the 1930s and features five different rums.
Day 12
Take the one-hour drive to the other side of the island for a day at Lawai Beach. Stop at Boss Frog’s to rent all the gear you need for the day, including paddleboards and some beach chairs. Enjoy the picnic lunch you packed under an umbrella.
You don’t have to go far to enjoy a truly romantic dinner at The Beach House. Start with the lobster deviled eggs and enjoy fresh fish in the seafood linguini. A bottle of wine overlooking the sunset is a perfect end to the day.
Day 13
The first half of your day starts on the water. Breakfast, lunch and drinks are provided on your catamaran cruise. There’s a good chance you’ll see sea turtles and maybe even dolphins during the snorkelling portion of the trip. Other unbeatable views include lush green valleys and the jagged sea cliffs.
Cinematic history is the highlight of the evening. A helicopter tour is the best way to really enjoy the island’s diverse terrain. You’ll have outstanding aerial views of the Na Pali coast, Waimea Canyon and areas where many movies were filmed—including Jurassic Park.
Day 14
The historic Kong Lung market center is a great option for your last day in Hawaii. The adorable shops, bakeries and restaurants are enough to keep you entertained through lunch.
While you’re in the area, you have to stop by the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and Lighthouse. From here, it’s a breathtaking view of the cliffs and ocean below. Head back to the resort for sushi at the Princeville Bar where your wedding and honeymoon adventure began.
