From Emily, the photographer:
Photographers aren’t supposed to play favorites, but with Savannah and Marcus, it’s was hard not to. Set among the lush vineyards and golden hills of Sonoma Valley, their intimate wedding was one of the most genuine and family-centered weddings I’ve had the joy of documenting.

Savannah and Marcus officially wed in Stockholm, Sweden, where most of his family resides, but they still wanted a quant celebration with their American family and friends. They chose Sonoma for it’s beauty, and Scribe Winery for the farm-fresh menu and organic aesthetic.

Savannah worked with the planner to create an ambiance that was clean, refined and simple. With natural hues mixed with greenery, they created an atmosphere that let the natural beauty of Sonoma’s landscape and Scribe’s property shine. Savannah wanted her wedding to feel like an intimate dinner party with friends, and I think that’s exactly what she created. After a casual ceremony where they recited their vows and popped some bubbles, guests retreated to a long banquet table for an evening of delicious wine and homemade food.

With a nod to Marcus’ Swedish upbringing, they structured their reception around a Swedish wedding tradition where a Toastmaster (a close friend of their’s) led the evening with stories and toasts to the newlyweds. By the end of the evening, nearly every guest had shared a meaningful story, giving a blessing or providing the entire table with laughter. The evening was capped off by a sparkler-adorned croquembouche made from scratch by Savannah’s dad, followed by a traditional Swedish song. Set among twinkling candles, it was one of the most unique celebrations of love and family I’ve ever seen.
