A snow-covered winter lodge wedding in Park City, UT
Courtney and JT’s winter wedding at the Empire Canyon Lodge at Deer Valley Resort was an incredible snowy celebration including sleigh rides, a hot cocoa bar, fireside dancing and more! The venue is located at the base of the spectacular Daly Chutes; covered in snow, it looks like something straight out of the Swiss Alps! Inside, guests were treated to fondue, melting raclette cheese and entrĂ©es cooked by the fireplace and optional alcoholic mixers for the hot cocoa to take on the sleigh ride. In lieu of favors, Courtney and JT delivered a bottle of champagne to their guests when they first arrived in town. The groomsmen each received an antique pocket watch, and the bridesmaids received a fur wrap and pearl necklace. Courtney followed tradition and had a garter from her mother-in-law as her something old, her mother’s mink coat for her something borrowed and her second garter was her something blue. Her elegant Enzoani gown was her something new, and she even had a silver sixpence for her shoe. Pepper Nix Photography captured all of these inspiring and beautiful images!
Two particularly memorable things happened to me before the wedding. The first was while we were getting ready. One of the groomsmen had brought us lunch while the girls were getting their hair and makeup done. We all sat together on the floor and had a moment to stop and relax. After we had eaten, my mother-in-law surprised me with a box of my favorite Girl Scout cookies that she had brought with her just for that day. It was a small thing but such an exciting treat!
The second very memorable moment happened right before the ceremony. I was more or less calm the entire day while we were getting ready, and finally my dad came back to get me and everyone else left the room. All of a sudden it hit me: I was really getting married! I broke out in red splotches all over my chest and arms and became nearly hysterical with only my poor dad to try and get me sorted out! Fortunately, once we left the room and started to walk down the aisle I relaxed a little and things went smoothly from there.
At the reception we had a little surprise planned. We had been secretly taking dance lessons for months before the wedding. We walked out for our first dance, and danced a rumba, complete with turns, breaks and dips. My mom actually got up out of her chair from the excitement and it was a really fun way to begin our marriage! – Courtney
