When Candice and I first began planning her wedding, she came to me with the beautiful painting ‘Some Summers’ by Todd Hunter. She said “I love this – if my wedding can feel the way this painting makes me feel, I will be so satisfied.”
I began brainstorming, researching the painter, and even digging into historical figures that we all have come to know and love Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh. All these figures bringing out the old world, european style along with their timeless works of art. After putting together the inspiration board for Candice, I sent it to her with a caption below…”If Vincent VanGogh were to throw a party, this would be it.” And it just stuck. I used this phrase and inspiration for everything else to fall into place. Lots of brass, old woods and rusted metals along with using mostly local to California florals to keep the organic, natural touch; and we stayed with the colors of Hunter’s piece for color inspiration. I wanted the day to feel very elegant and classy, but with a very old world, European influence.
