Emily and Jason were married in October at Miller Cabin, a gorgeous, rustic venue that served as the ideal backdrop for their purple and yellow autumn wedding overflowing with gourds, sunflowers and wild flowers. The two have known each other since grade school; they dated in high school and took a break when they went to different colleges. After three years apart, the decided to rekindle their relationship, and they haven’t looked back since. Emily and her bridal party got ready at Berry Hill Mansion, while Jason anxiously waited in the courtyard for their first look! Emily and her sisters made all of the signs by hand, and her mother made all of the desserts and sides for dinner. Heather Chipps Photography captured their rustic celebration!
An autumn purple cabin wedding in Scottsburg, VA
Jason woke me up very early on a cold November morning. He told me to get dressed, but wouldn’t say what we were doing. When I got in the car, he tied a blindfold over my eyes. He then drove us on to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We parked and I took my blindfold off. We hiked up Humpback Rocks in the pitch black and sat down on the summit snuggled under a blanket and watched the sun come up. Once all the other people had left, Jason pulled out the ring box and proposed. Afterwards, we got coffee and tea and pastries and went by the library book sale in Charlottesville. We followed that with dinner and celebratory drinks. – Emily
