Romantic Seaside Wedding Photography

When all you really want is an intimate elopement, but you end up planning a traditional wedding with thousands of guests, the best thing to do is hire your favorite photographer for a pre-wedding photo session! Elizabeth Messina recently travelled to Bali with Lydia and Ronald for this romantic seaside wedding photo shoot, creating a beautiful opportunity for the type of memories that the couple longed for.

“Lydia and Ronald are having their wedding in Jakarta where, as tradition requires, thousands of guests are invited to a huge ballroom. But deep inside, they both want an intimate outdoor wedding shot by her fave photographer, Elizabeth Messina. So, a week before their wedding, they went to Bali for a photo session with Elizabeth Messina. Instead of the usual casual photo session, everything was set up as if it was an “elopement.” Lydia wore a custom white wedding dress with breathtaking details especially made by Yefta Gunawan. The lace is so delicate with a shell-like pattern, and sewn with little pearls and beading on top of the lace.

The concept behind the whole set-up was inspired by a comment Ronald made, that his favourite movie now is Beauty and the Beast, as he could somehow relate to be loved by a Beauty with an equally beautiful soul. He even wished for his wedding to somehow carry the Beauty and the Beast theme. Thus, we drew our inspiration for the set up of the elopement to infuse various elements from Beauty and the Beast (tall candles & candelabras, drapery, roses, etc) without being too thematic.

We used tall candles & candelabra for the table set up, chandelier on the ceremony gazebo, complete with flowing drapery. The stationery featured roses, and we used various type of roses for the floral arrangements. As we were by the beach, we also included some shells into the decoration so the whole set up would blend well with the surrounding.”
