Ramscale Wedding

Jaimie and Ashton’s wedding took place on a lovely May afternoon at Ramscale, a loft on the West Side Highway in New York City. The flowers and decor were very bohemian and simple, and instead of a formal, sit-down meal, they served BBQ. a guy + a girl photography captured every detail and special moment – the favorite being when Jaimie interrupted the Rabbi and asked, “I’m sorry, am I allowed to hug him?” The Rabbi didn’t have a chance to respond before Jaimie hugged Ashton, her soon-to-be husband!

Ashton and I “met” when he came to visit my cousin in January of ’06; however, we realized that I used to go visit my cousin when we were little kids so we all used to play together when we were 3 and 4 years old. So really we didn’t “meet,” we just reconnected 6-1/2 years ago. Ashton and I hit it off immediately when we re-met all of those years ago, and I, of course, was devastated that he was living in California and all I had was that weekend he was in town to hang out. But he pursued me via email, and we wrote to each other multiple times a day, spoke on the phone, and he even came to visit me in April. We were completely smitten, and Ashton made a decision to pack up and move out to NYC in June of ’06 to be with me.

When we were picturing our idea of our kind of wedding, we wanted to have a gathering with the people who we felt the most connected to, which is why we did not have a traditional wedding with a traditional cake, or a first dance and of course me being goofy as I am breaking the traditional ceremony and needing to give him that hug. Our point was to have everybody together and just let everything else kind of fall into place. – Jaimie
