This “Portrait of a Goddess” shoot from Dillinger Studios combined a bridal portrait session with a boudoir shoot. The soft colors, the feminine details and the simple romance of the dresses truly created the essence of a goddess!
A Portrait of a Goddess boudoir shoot in Minneapolis, MN
A woman is truly a sum total of all her parts – her smile, the sparkle in her eyes when she laughs, the curve or her neck and the sway of her hips. All of these things become part of the story that gets told in a bridal session. When I photograph women in my studio, I imagine showing them all of the things their partner loves about them – how each little detail is part of what makes her beautiful. Although most of my brides never imagine doing a bridal session, once they experience it, they have no regrets. Aside from getting a day all to herself to be spoiled, she gets to have an experience in front of the camera, free from the stresses that inherently go along with the wedding day. Plus she gets to experience what it is like to be a part of a styled shoot while getting a gorgeous portfolio of images, not only for her partner, but for herself! She gets to see what her dress is going to look like on her wedding day and gets an idea for how she wants to be photographed in it. I love being able shoot a bridal portrait into a bridal boudoir session because once a woman finds her confidence in front of the camera – all things are possible. In the Portrait of a Goddess session, we really wanted to embody the soft, femininity of being a woman. We chose dresses by Leanne Marshall because of the striking sex appeal – no lingerie needed ladies. The fitted low cut bodices and flowing skirts draped elegantly around the body exposing the perfect amount of skin. Our accent jewelry pieces were simple, yet helped to really draw the eye where it needed to be. Paired perfectly with layers of blush tulle, the floral design and garland added stunning texture and color to the otherwise soft palette. By far my favorite pieces were the floral clips that were utterly provocative and could be used in countless ways. Through soft colors and textures, as well as the timeless ethereal styling, this session really captures the essence of a goddess – which, let’s be honest, every woman is. – Rochelle
