Marketa and Kiril chose the Palladium Performing Arts Center for their wedding celebration because they fell in love with the exquisite architecture and welcoming elegance. Marketa is Czech and Kiril is Bulgarian, so their wedding was full of European influence and traditional elements. They planned a romantic wedding in neutral tones with splashes of gold and organic greenery that perfectly complemented their style. Danielle Harris Photography captured their day!

The Proposal
“We were in medical school and we didn’t have much time for ourselves, but he insisted we take the time for cooking a nice dinner together for 3 Saturdays in a row. The first was my birthday, the second was a “freebie,” and the third was our first date anniversary. He proposed on the second Saturday, and now for the rest of our lives we will have a 3 weekend celebration to look forward to!”
The Attire
“I was actually headed in a completely different dress style direction, but when I saw a picture of my dress I was hooked right away! I had one opportunity for trying on wedding dresses since I was still living in Europe and was only in the US for a short time, and unfortunately the salon had sold the dress I was coming to try on shortly before my appointment so I wasn’t even able to try it out! I stuck to my instinct and ordered the dress anyway, and when my first fitting came along I couldn’t have been more thrilled with how perfect the dress was in person.”
Favorite Moments
“I was missing my husband when we were apart leading up to the ceremony, so my favorite part of the day was seeing him standing there waiting for me at the end of the aisle. He looked so handsome and happy, it warmed my heart. In the frenzy of everything leading up to our wedding day, and the day itself, I felt a beautiful flood of calm when our eyes met from across the room, and all the stress I’d been carrying melted away.”
Special Details & Heirlooms
“A very important personal detail of the day was that my younger sister played the piano as my father walked me down the aisle, it was really beautiful!
I had a bit of a last minute family heirloom inclusion, actually. I don’t really wear jewelry and hadn’t thought at all about what I would wear on the wedding day, and so my mother came through with lending me earrings given to her by her grandmother. My great-aunt who we now share a wedding anniversary with was unable to attend, so she sent a string of pearls as a gift and I honored her as well by wearing it. My husband and his family are Bulgarian, and at some point during the reception we all got to enjoy some traditional Bulgarian dancing which was a ton of fun!”
