Michelle and Greg’s modern pink hotel wedding at The Westin St. Francis in September was everything they both wanted – lots of pink sparkly details and delicious food! The Westin first opened in 1904 in San Francisco and still retains its history while offering modern luxury and iconic Bay Area design. Tia & Claire Studio captured their celebration!
A modern pink sparkly hotel wedding in San Francisco, CA
I started planning my wedding when I was 5 years old and was asked to be a flower girl in my Aunt Renee’s wedding. I remember thinking that she was like Cinderella walking to meet her prince and that’s how I wanted my wedding to be. I love everything pink, bling and sparkly and my husband Greg loves food. So I knew our wedding needed lots of sparkle… and great food!
I had tried on over 50 wedding dresses from head to toe with the veil. I knew I wanted something different. When I tried on the white lace dresses I didn’t feel like myself. But when I tried on the Lazaro light pink dress it was me. I was a little worried that my husband would be disappointed I wasn’t in a white dress but when I told him I found my dress he said he hoped it was pink! I custom designed my invitations at Paper Caper in Burlingame and wanted the invitation to give people a feeling of love, romance, sparkle and black tie. I wanted to somehow incorporate my pink tulle dress. Paper Caper and I came up with an idea to wrap pink tulle around the invitations with a bling brooch. My guests said when they opened up the invitation it was like I popped into their living room inviting them to my wedding.
Lauren the wedding planner at the Westin St. Francis understood the importance of food to my husband and sparkles for me. We had gold glitter on the macarons, pink sparkles on the cupcakes, and fabulous food. The chef took both of our passions and created a masterpiece.
For our late night snack we had doughnuts because we somehow always end up at Bob’s Doughnuts on Polk Street. Of course the doughnuts had to have pink sparkles on them.
This was the best day of our lives. We have every single photo that Tia and Clare took in a photo book. They captured my Cinderella wedding with all the love and happiness we both felt.
I knew that I wanted my wedding to be a magical experience for the guests. When we exited the church I wanted it to be something over the top. My husband Greg is Scottish and wanted a bag piper so we found someone who had pink bagpipes – of course! Leaving the church we climbed into in my high school car, a 1966 baby blue Mustang convertible that had a large “Just Married” sign, which ended up being our guest book. I found custom cans that said “Just Married” and “Happily Ever After” and our wedding date. They made beautiful photos.
When the guests arrived at the Westin St. Francis, they were greeted with a glass of champagne with a sparkle glitter twirl in the drinks. My favorite decor item was our champagne-shaped ice luge with the Moët & Chandon label with our names and wedding date on it. We actually went to Moët & Chandon on our honeymoon! The food at the cocktail hour was Middle Eastern food from both of our nationalities, and some San Francisco flair with oysters and sliders. – Michelle
