DIY bride Megan turned a love of reading into a gorgeous and elegant spring wedding in Safety Harbor, Florida. With help from her husband-to-be Andy and friends and family, she transformed books into some memorable and romantic wedding decorations. Weber Photography by Wes + Liz captured their birds and books-inspired wedding!
The theme started with books – a nod to our love for reading, but I incorporated birds when I fell in love with my invitation suite. I had a very hard time choosing colors but fell into tealy blues and golds (again, due to my invitation suite). The flowers are very natural and organic in style (ivory, white and greenery) – I wanted them to have a very vintage / romantic feeling. Along with Andy, my loving parents, and bridesmaids, I did a lot of the work DIY. I did this to try and pour as much personalization into the wedding as possible. I want the day to be a true reflection of ourselves. Some things that I did: made my own Save the Dates; added to the invitations by doing book page envelope liners (from my favorite book, “To Kill a Mockingbird”) and hand-drawn maps; made “bookmark” placecards; re-appropriated books as table numbers – replete with their own chapter titles that represent different moments in me and Andy’s relationship; made my own cake topper, programs, etc.. – Megan
