Grace and Jonathan love to ski but they didn’t want a winter wedding, so instead they planned an incredible summer destination wedding in the mountains of Utah! They chose Stein Eriksen Lodge for the venue – the perfect spot for Grace’s vision of rustic, organic mountain elegance with lots of texture, a color palette of soft orange, peach, gold, chartreuse, pear green and white, accented by twigs, branches and moss. Her bouquet was hand tied in taupe raw silk with peach and green ranunculus, blush vintage garden roses, peach poppies, seracena, scabiosa pods, white andromeda, black-eyed star of beth, peach blooming succulents, coral peonies, tiny mossy branches and summer foliage. Each bridesmaid chose her own dress style in shades of truffle, champagne and vanilla. Grace wanted a naked cake, so the pastry chef at Stein Eriksen created a rustic un-iced cake surrounded by spider mums. Music was also a big part of their celebration; Lindsey Stirling led the guests into the reception, and the bride’s entire immediate family got on stage and sang Madonna’s “Holiday.” Pepper Nix Photography captured their incredible celebration!
A luxurious destination Jewish mountain wedding in Park City, UT
We met at work. My husband is a surgeon and I work for a medical device company. As it so happens, he came to start his fellowship at a hospital I was working at. So we met in an operating room essentially. He proposed to me on a an unseasonably cold night in January in the middle of Park Avenue on the way to dinner at Daniel on NYC’s Upper East Side. It was 14 degrees and he got down on one knee on the median. We would always joke about getting stuck on the “island” or median on the big avenues in NYC. He said if he were to ever be stuck on an island, there’s no one else he’d rather be stuck with! Then we had dinner, and he whisked me away to Turks and Caicos the very next morning to celebrate our engagement. It was magical.
My friends gave me some special things [for my wedding]. My one friend Crystal had hankies embroidered with our names and wedding dates so that if I got emotional during the ceremony, I had something to dab my eyes. Another friend gave me gorgeous underwear to wear under my gown. My brother also gave us a very special gift: He gave us the glass the groom stomps on after we are officially married and then you save that glass. It’s a gorgeous turquoise color and then it goes into the Mezuza (Jewish scroll on a door frame in your home). – Grace
