Nikisha (from New York) and Carl (from DC) KNEW that they wanted to plan their very tiny wedding celebration (10 guests!) on the beach. But Nikisha also couldn’t imagine their special day without the woods, and she was torn. UNTIL she stumbled accross Pfeifer Beach in Big Sur. Where the red woods meet the surf! She fell HARD, and though she had never been to California (and would not prior to the wedding) she made it happen. She had such a great vision, and we were so impressed with how well she pulled it together. For example: her stunning shawl was a custom order on Etsy, but Nikisha researched specific styles of crochet (thought she doesn’t know how to crotchet herself!) and guided the seller to exactly what she wanted. She found a solo guitarist to simply play their favorite Radio Head song (music only, no singing) throughout the simple ceremony. They hired a local florist for her bouquet and florals at the dinner, and a local officiant. They rented a STUNNING house in the area to spend time as a family before hand and to get ready in, then we all traveled to the beach for the ceremony and portraits. Though you can see it was VERY windy that day, Nikisha could not be swayed from her vision of a ceremony on the beach, and we are all so glad! It was STUNNING. After, everyone travelled nearby to the rustic but totally foodie-centric Big Sur Bakery, where their party of 12 enjoyed an amazingly prepared, and sweetly intimate dinner.
