If you’re planning a summer wedding, yours is probably not the only one your guests will be attending this season. So how can you make your day stand out as exceptional? How about some thoughtful gestures to ensure your guests are as comfortable as possible in the warmer weather? Let your guests know how much you appreciate their attendance by implementing some of these ideas to help beat the heat and stay comfy!
Thoughtful tips on how to beat the heat and keep guests comfortable at your summer wedding
Stay Hydrated
I know what you’re thinking – “Duh, of course we’ll have bottled water for our guests!” But I can’t tell you how many couples forget to offer bottled water during the ceremony, especially at blazing hot outdoor events! A lot of wedding favor companies offer personalized water bottles, but I actually think you’re better off to buy the bottles and apply custom labels, if you have the time and you’re so inclined. All you have to do is search on Etsy and you’ll find a ton of cute, affordable options. Just don’t forget to chill the bottles! Set up a cool down station with tubs or coolers filled with ice so guests have nice, cold water to quench their thirst.
Sun Protection
Another thoughtful gesture is to provide parasols and/or hand fans for guests. It’s not necessary to provide one for every guest, but it’s nice to give them the option of shielding themselves from the sun!

Guests don’t want to squint their way through your vows and cocktail hour, so why not treat them to a pair of shades? There are a number of companies that will print your names and wedding date on the temples of the sunglasses, too! Set them out on each chair at the ceremony, or have a basket of complimentary sunglasses when guests arrive.

Bug Off
Depending on the location of your summer wedding, guests might need a helping hand fending off mosquitoes and other creepy crawlies. Let’s face it, though – most bug repellents smell gross and use nasty chemicals. That’s why I was intrigued to discover Aromaflage, a fine fragrance with no DEET, chemicals or parabens, featuring notes of citrus, cedar wood and vanilla (aromatic essential oils that are native to the Southeast Asian jungle) along with Vitamin E to keep those irritating insects away! Set out a few of these travel-sized tubes for guests to use if needed. While you’re at it, offer some sunscreen, too!
Sole Saving
Unless most of your guests will be attending in flip-flops (and if so, rock on), offering some flats to save their feet (and the dance floor) will be a most welcome gesture. I love the idea of Rescue Flats, luxury ballet flats wrapped in classic satin ribbon and displayed in a couture bridal box set. Rescue Flats even offers free printable signs to set up next to your shoe display!

Happy Tears
You’ve probably seen adorable custom embroidered wedding hankies, but they aren’t for every budget. That’s why I like these cute personalized tissue packets. (Plus, you can blot discretely since they’re disposable!)

Don’t Shine On
Sweat is not your friend when it comes to wedding photos, so oil-absorbing blotting papers are a brilliant idea. Guests can touch up before getting in front of the camera, and your wedding album will be filled with smiling, not shining, faces!
