Kelsey and Zac’s autumn wedding in Park City was surrounded by golden foliage, stunning aspen trees and charming rustic details! Kelsey wore a champagne Chantilly lace Maggie Sottero gown with rhinestone accents at the bust, complemented by turquoise earrings to represent the state of New Mexico, where she and Zac first met working at a ranch for the Boy Scouts of America. She also wore a flower crown she made herself to tie into the natural setting of the day. The reception menu was a local and organic Utah-themed buffet preceded by passed hors d’oeuvres representing Kentucky, Florida and New Mexico. The bar menu featured Zac’s favorite local Utah beers, as well as a signature cocktail called “The Crawdad” made with Jim Beam bourbon, Ale-8 (Kentucky ginger ale), peach nectar and a muddled mint leaf. Their wedding cake was a small lemon cake with buttercream icing topped with handmade skiing and snowboarding cake toppers from Park City. Pepper Nix Photography captured their amazing celebration!
A golden woodsy wedding in fall in Park City, UT
We used simple decorations letting the venue stand out. We had a printed burlap table runner on eclectic wood tables. Our centerpieces consisted of cacti and succulents with wood pillar tea light holders we made ourselves. The wood was found in area creeks and dried out, then cut to various lengths and drilled shallow holes to hold the tealights. We purchased the cacti and succulents at a local store, Cactus & Tropicals, and we found the vases at thrift stores and planted them ourselves. We DIYed things we like to do. Zac likes to use tools so he made the candle holders; I like to garden and arrange so I handled the plants. Also, Zac likes beer, so he chose the bar menu.
I wanted my bouquet to have a wildflower look, like I went and picked them before the ceremony. We have some greenery with a few different kinds of flowers in white, peach, and pink. We chose cacti and succulents for the centerpieces because we met in the desert in New Mexico and because they are a plant that can be kept after the wedding. – Kelsey
