This lovely Sonoma Valley wedding, sent to us from Rylee Hitchner, is simply darling. Erin and Garry’s quaint wedding seems like the perfect combination between a traditional outdoor wedding, and a casual dinner with friends at a French bistro. When Erin and Garry, who live in San Francisco but have a weekend home in Sonoma, got engaged, they knew they wanted to throw a weekend celebration highlighting the best that wine country has to offer – delicious food, great wine and stunning views. Their guests, who mostly traveled from the Midwest and Europe, were treated to three days worth of events throughout Wine Country. The wedding itself took place at B.R. Cohn Winery inSonoma. The ceremony was set on an oak lined hill overlooking the sprawling cabernet vineyards and dinner took place beneath the venue’s 140 year old French Picholine olive trees. As a nod to Erin’s love of all things French and Garry and Erin’s mutual love of delicious food, Amanda O’Shannessy Creative designed the event to be reminiscent of a cozy outdoor french bistro. Potted herbs, rosemary infused olive oil, and calligraphed cutting board table numbers lined the dinner tables. Calligraphed chalkboards attached to custom-made wooden backdrops served as menus and calligraphed tiles that their designer sourced at salvage yards led guests to their seats. After dinner, a gelato cart served up none other than cabernet flavored gelato. The night came full circle when Garry made his groom’s speech – a common tradition at English weddings. Garry recounted the story of his and Erin’s first date – which funny enough took place B.R. Cohn Winery. Unable to get in for a tasting, Garry fabricated a story claiming that it was he and his wife’s wedding anniversary. Needless to say, the first date was a success. It only seemed fitting to start the next chapter of their lives together right where their story had begun years earlier.
