We decided to marry in Sri Lanka as this is our common culture; however, as we both are not very traditional, we wanted to stray away from a conventional Sri Lankan wedding. We wanted some where intimate and fun where our closest friends and family could celebrate our special day . The actual island was completely my partner’s pick and what a fantastic job he did! It is such a surreal and impossibly romantic place. There is a single villa on the island which was built in the 1920’s which still retains much of its old-world ambience. The best part is that the island is only accessible by wading through knee deep water which adds to the mystery and magic! I came across Jonas Peterson’s work more than 5 years ago way before even thinking about my own wedding but from the moment I saw his photography, it was “love at first sight”. I had never imagined that I would have him capturing my own wedding but when I discovered that he was based in Australia, I knew it meant to be.
