I love the simplicity of this elegant and effortless wedding Austin Gros recently sent to us. The bride and groom wanted their wedding day to be a relaxed gathering of their families and best friends, and the result was a sweet party full of love and delicate details.
From the Bride and Groom:
Mike and I are high school sweethearts. Over 10 years ago, while Mike was a senior and I was a junior, we met in our Math Analysis class. Mike apparently noticed me, and ‘stole’ my name from a sign-in sheet so he could strike up a conversation. Our friendship and relationship quickly blossomed over a series of late-night chats and time spent goofing off in class. Shortly thereafter, we had our first date and were joined at the hip…
After high school, I went to college at Cal Poly while Mike studied at San Jose State. Over the course of 5 years there were countless trips up and down the coast so we could spend weekends together. The 3-hour distance definitely tested the strength of our relationship, but while most couples would have grown apart at this stage in their lives, we grew closer together as we grew up together.
Coming from two very different cultural backgrounds, our Vietnamese tea ceremony in the morning served as a bridge between families and a homage to the bride’s ancestors.
We value uniqueness and simplicity, and envisioned our wedding to be a relaxed, less-traditional celebration, with an emphasis on good people, good food, and good music. The overall style we hoped to create was simple, effortless and a bit rustic. We wanted to keep the decor minimal and focused on items that we could source ourselves. The dishes were inspired by meals that Mike and I have shared over the years, and we opted to not serve a cake, and instead focus on our love for ice cream. In essence, we wanted the day to feel like a festive home gathering peppered with details of what make us ‘us’.
