This whimsical and unique wedding styled shoot from Ania Studios and In The 6ix Weddings honors all things woodsy and whimsical, with incredible floral designs featuring proteas and dragon’s breath, along with a fabulous tablescape and a stunning gown!
A Game of Thrones wedding inspiration shoot in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
The design inspiration began with the bridal bouquet and each element and creation from the cake to the tablescape and jewelry was planned around the character Khaleesi’s signature style. The various design elements were based around the texture of dragons and the contrast between their rugged beauty in contrast with Khaleesi’s delicate, yet powerful features.
We wanted a wild, unique and textured look for the bouquet that the Mother of Dragons would be carrying on her fantasized wedding day. To achieve this look we combined proteas in a rich burgundy shade with aritichokes in a dusty greyish-blue hue to channel the signature colour Khaleesi often wears. We always wanted to bring a very earthy feel to the bouquet by incorporating beautiful succulents in green and burgundy shades to complete the look. A bride’s bouquet is often a creative expression of her own personal style and we had the opportunity to bring this signature look together using some of our favourite flowers that are currently trending.
We approached Pretty Pastries with our colour palette and mood board and their creations absolutely blew us away! They captured our vision down to the very last detail and texture. The cake itself boasts a regal yet earthy design starting with a layer of gold dragon scales surrounding the base of the cake sitting on top of a moss covered crystal cake stand. While the top layers offer a smoother, more soft texture to mirror the delicate beauty of the bride accented with earthy succulents. We abolutely love the pop of emerald green in the centre of this deliciously succulent (no pun intended) cake!
Matching mini cakes, cupcakes and timbit towers over a bed of rich vibrant berries is just the touch of perfection to complete this dessert table.
We wanted a dress that was classic, form fitting and similar in style to the soft flowy dresses Khaleesi often adorned. This Lea-Ann Belter dress was made for Khaleesi and we couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have discovered it! With just the right amount of fit and flowy-ness and subtle beading detail – this dress truly brought our vision towards reality. It is so important that a dress compliments the bride on her wedding day and showcases her natural beauty and style and all the vendors contributing to the attire went above and beyond to make this happen.
Which brings us to the amazing talent behind Laura Amaya Beauty – Laura Tran took one look at our model and transformed her into Khaleesi. Incorporating the wavy locks and subtle braids of Khaleesi’s signature look, Laura Amaya Beauty brought our vision and inspiration behind the bride and groom to life with her magic touch.
For the tablescape we wanted a combination of elegance and earthy and incorporated all the elements we loved for this styled shoot together in a reception fit for a Queen and King of the Seven Kingdoms. Arranged by Wedding Designer, Sarathi Abeywardena of In The 6ix Weddings, who used soft white linens with a gold lace overlay and Starburst Charger plates to continue the contrasting textures throughout the tablescape. Clusters of dragon’s breath flowers decorated the table in a rich burgundy with undertones of magenta to match the draping behind the head table. Ghostwood bark and clear glass votive candle holders with gold detailing set the tone for a royal yet earthy celebration. – In The 6ix Weddings
