A family farm wedding in Caledonia, MI
Tiffany and Jeremy’s DIY shabby chic wedding at her family farm came together perfectly with an amazing variety of handmade items, wildflowers and vintage finds. With the help of family and friends, their August wedding was a beautiful celebration of the couple and their love, and Amanda Kopp Images captured every moment.
Our country barn, shabby chic DIY wedding turned out more wonderful than we could have imagined! We had four months to plan and thankfully we have amazing friends and family that were willing to help out with anything and everything! We already knew that we wanted to have our wedding in Michigan on the family farm, so I quickly researched wedding blogs and found tons of inspiration for a country farm wedding. I sent images off to one of my best friends, Kelly from Kelly Jean Design and she created our invitations, and nearly the whole look of the wedding from hanging flags all the way down to cupcake toppers; everything matching our theme perfectly! Much of our décor was straw bales, wild flowers, mason jars and items scavenged from the old barns and around the house.
Since most everything was DIY, from the mason jar chandeliers to the cake stands to the bar, it is hard to choose our favorite DIY project, though the most memorable one was creating the lighting for the perfect atmosphere. Many evenings were spent in the barn with my father and I hanging Christmas lights all around the massive space and then hanging the ladder and the wagon wheel for the mason jars to hang from so they could twinkle with candlelight.
The day started with a rain shower, a photo session, and a beautiful ceremony and ended with dancing, roasting marshmallows on a campfire and bursts of color in the sky from fireworks. It was incredible and the most memorable day our lives! Favorite memory of the day:
Our wedding day holds so many incredible memories like taking pictures under a huge oak tree in the middle of a field, getting to ride and drive away in my grandfather’s 1928 Model A Replica, and the family dog deciding he had to be a part of the entire day! But the two favorites have to be: walking down the hay bale lined aisle after the ceremony holding hands with my best friend and love of my life, not noticing that anyone else existed but us! And then the second has to be cutting the cake. Jeremy asked, “What are we going to do? Mean or nice?” And I respond with, “What’s more us?” Without hesitation we both instantly say, “Mean.” In the next second both of our faces are smeared with frosting, there’s lots of laughter and then we kindly help each other clean up. – Tiffany
