A spring wedding with Disney-themed details in San Diego, CA

Angela and Trevor share many passions, but two have been recurring themes throughout both their courtship and wedding day: Disney and surprises! After meeting through mutual friends during a Disneyland trip, the pair continuously returned for dates there, and Trevor even proposed during their fourth anniversary date to the parks. Though the wedding itself took place near Angela’s home in San Diego, Disney details were sprinkled throughout everything, including a pumpkin carriage charm from Disney China, a mailbox-turned-giftcard-receptacle painted to resemble Carl and Ellie’s from the movie “Up,” guest seating name cards modeled after FastPasses with Mickey/Minnie antennae topper holders, reception tables named after Disney rides (with little personal stories about the couple regarding each one!), bridal Mickey hats for Trevor and Angela, a Mickey and Minnie cake topper, and a photo booth and popcorn bar reminiscent of the midway at California Adventure. As part of her speech, Angela’s maid-of-honor even serenaded the entire reception with an impressive rendition of “Friend Like Me” from “Aladdin,” using her own lyrics about the couple and revealing a masterfully Photoshopped image of Trevor and Angela as Aladdin and Jasmine.

When Trevor first proposed to Angela he arranged to have the entire event secretly photographed to capture her reaction, with an engagement session following in Disney’s California Adventure park. When Angela bought her wedding dress, she didn’t tell Trevor that it was actually a “double layer” dress, with a removable long skirt and train. She ended up revealing this to him before the reception and he was thrilled since he’d been concerned Angela’s long train would hinder her dancing (and he knew she loves to dance). She also eventually donned argyle socks to match Trevor and his groomsmen, and every wedding party member received Converse One-Star sneakers so they could get down on the dance floor comfortably. Angela and Trevor also arranged for a flash mob dance with their wedding party and family members to surprise guests during the reception, and finally, because it was Mother’s Day weekend, the pair surprised Angela’s mother and Trevor’s mother with T-shirts from their respective new in-law’s alma mater.

To kick off the day, the couple made sure every guest staying in town overnight for the wedding had a “goodie bag” waiting for them in their hotel room complete with some treats and suggested sights to see in San Diego. Angela matched an heirloom blue gemstone ring with a pair of blue heels for the reception, and blue socks later on. The couple decorated the pews at their church with “photos from yesteryear” of friends and family, and created some memorable ones of their own later on. This included a successful creation of a “hadouken” photo with the entire wedding party, and the bridesmaids doing “the robot” as a pose.

Following the reception, the couple was sent off through a gauntlet of glittering silver streamers outside the venue, and they invited everyone back to the hotel for some late night snacks from a food truck. Luminaire Images captured their fun and unforgettable wedding celebration!
