Dana and Chad’s wedding at The Retro Ranch featured a whimsical vintage celestial theme and a beautiful jewel-toned palette of rich purples, blues and gold. Linda Abbott captured their celebration and Moxie Bright Events brought their unique vision to life! From Moxie Bright Events: “Dana and Chad both love space, and Dana worked on the series Cosmos while they were dating, so they really found the romance in thinking about the universe and our place in it. They took much of the inspiration from the setting; they were excited to have an outdoor wedding in the fall under the stars. Both Chad and Dana wanted it to feel like you stumbled onto a magical party in a secret forest. We loved the string lights, they reminded us of the hobbit party in Lord of The Rings, so we made long tables with lush greens and candlelight. There were chandeliers hanging from the trees above the dance floor. There were candles and warm lights twinkling everywhere like fairies.”

The Proposal
Funny enough, The Snake Pit is now our neighborhood bar, only a few blocks from our place, so when Chad told me to meet him and a few friends there, I didn’t think anything of it. In fact I went out running errands and was late. When I walked in, I was surprised to see him sitting by himself. He put the timeless classic “Nothing’s Going To Stop Us Now” on the jukebox and got down on one knee to propose. In true LA fashion, no one else at the very crowded bar noticed. He then surprised me with a long weekend in Big Sur, one of our favorite places, at the magical Ventana Inn. It was like an engagement-moon, just for us.
The Attire
We really went with our instincts. I only went dress shopping once. My dress was the third dress I tried on. I loved the color and the long train, it was a very romantic dress. Chad knew he wanted a special color for his suit outside of the normal blue or black. And with our bridal party, we knew we wanted everyone to shine individually, so we kept things in a similar color palette while letting them wear what they wanted.
