We first met & started dating while living in NYC when Rob was in medical school, and I was working as a physical therapist at his hospital. We dated for several years in NYC, and once Rob finished medical school he applied for residency programs around the country. We were looking for a change of lifestyle and an adventurous environment to settle into over the next five years, and ended up in Charleston, South Carolina.
We got engaged shortly after moving to Charleston, while on a hiking trip in Asheville. When starting the wedding planning process, Rob and I initially wanted to plan a very small destination wedding in Tuscany, Italy since I have an Italian background. With grandparents on both sides unable to travel abroad, it was clear that their presence at our wedding was more important than the destination. We started looking for a venue in the states, and discovered RiverOaks. RiverOaks combined the european esthetic we were yearning for with the breathtaking beauty of the Charleston landscape.
