The Maitland Art Center was the perfect backdrop to juxtapose modern, colorful watercolor decor against a beautiful historic setting in this elegant styled shoot from Captured by Elle Photo + Video. The teal ombré napkins and hand-painted silverware, stationery and table numbers were all handmade to add a unique and artsy touch to the tablescape. The calligrapher continued the personalization by providing custom invitation envelopes complete with modern calligraphy fonts and colorful inks, while the cake designer also added a touch of ombré with an airbrushed cake and fresh flowers to tie with the theme. The bride wore a custom, handmade satin dress created by a local dress designer, adorned with ostrich feathers and a crystal belt. The models, a real life couple married for over 12 years, enjoyed reliving their wedding day and walked away with an incredible custom painting brought to life during the shoot!
A colorful and modern watercolor styled shoot in Maitland, FL
I wanted to show brides that there are lots of ways to add color to their wedding day in a chic and modern way. I love pastels as much as the next girl, but nothing says “celebration” more than beautiful vibrant colors! I also think it’s important to personalize your wedding day, and I really enjoyed doing some of the simple DIY projects that added some flair, customization and uniqueness to the theme. The dip-dye ombré napkins were my favorite! I started with a little RIT dye then continued watering it down and dipping the napkin lower and lower to get a super cool fade effect. – Elle
